Geologist Shu Jun sets out alone for Tibet in search of a letter his mentor, missing for many years, left behind. Beside a deep pool at the foot of a sacred mountain, a jade pendant engraved with the ancient seal script “All Rivers Return as One” pulls him into a whirlpool.
When he opens his eyes again, he is in the age of the Great Flood, four thousand years in the past.
Yu the Great has only just established his flood-control headquarters. The Nine Provinces are falling apart, and the waters are raging. Thanks to his modern geological knowledge, Shu Jun is exceptionally promoted by King Yu to chief flood-control official. But he soon discovers that this flood is no ordinary natural disaster.
Strange beasts lurk in the waters. Metal components that do not belong to this age lie buried deep in the riverbeds. And whenever Shu Jun nears a crucial flood-control site, the jade pendant he brought with him on his transmigration reveals blood-red markings, reflecting another “future”: a dark age in which the Nine Provinces have become a wasteland ruled by outsiders and humanity is infested by “Ruin Worms.”
Even more unsettling, several of Yu the Great’s most important ministers seem to know where Shu Jun came from. Some secretly aid him, while others want him dead. Shu Jun gradually realizes that the flood is part of a conspiracy spanning a thousand years: a bioweapon left behind by the ancient Ruin civilization has run amok, and the pendant in his hand is, astonishingly, the last “ecological key” of that civilization.
With the help of ancient figures such as Boyi, Yinglong, and Shuhai, Shu Jun works to control the flood while battling parasitic beasts, Ruin-corrupted land, and the invisible will lurking in the depths of the Ruin. Starting in the age of Yu the Great, he journeys through the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties. At every turning point in history, he must act from the shadows to keep human civilization from being devoured by the Ruin.
After guarding humanity for a thousand years and dying and reborn countless times, he finally reaches the moment that can bring it all to an end.
The author's writing style is very detailed. It is the kind of novel that can be read and followed for a long time. The plot in the book is ups and downs, and the narrative rhythm is quite good. It is really a very treasured book. I will highly recommend it!!!
The author's literary skills are very solid, his writing style is very good, and his topic selection is also very distinctive. He does not write blindly, and does not talk about strange power and confusion. It has been a long time since I have seen such a serious time travel article. Come on, author, and I will be optimistic about you.
I am very creative and traveled back in time to the myth of Dayu's flood control. The author's ideas are ingenious and his imagination is wide open.
A very creative novel with a lot of imagination. It travels to the mythical story of Dayu's flood control, becomes the chief, and fights against the mysterious insects and beasts. It's good. Like it 👍👍

Very good subject
The beginning made me feel like I had to quickly catch up on geography and history. The author has such a big brain.
It's well written. It's so innovative compared to the ones that were deleted or changed in the same version.
