The Wicked Stepmother Never Stops Stirring Up Trouble

Reborn as the wicked stepmother in a household-intrigue novel, Jiang Yu just wants to lie flat and wait to die.

Then the System appears right in her face, demanding her life: she has to complete the missions, act wicked, and failure means her soul will be annihilated.

Fine. She rolls up her sleeves. Make her stepson kneel in the ancestral hall? She stuffs the kneeling cushion with cotton and serves him plenty of hot soup. Tear up her stepdaughter's embroidery? She copies the pattern first, then replaces it with something even better. Everyone in the manor calls her a heartless viper, but no one notices that every “nasty trick” she pulls strikes the villain right in the heart.

The male lead, Zhou Huaijin, is the Marquis of Zhenbei, a cold-faced killer. On his first day back at the manor, he sees her chasing her son as if to “beat” him and is about to fly into a rage. But the boy secretly tugs at his sleeve and whispers, “Father, Mother is playing with me.” This “wicked stepmother” has fooled the entire household, but the children are the first to see through her disguise.

A scheming illegitimate daughter with a white-lotus act is eyeing her spot, hoping to step on her way to the top? She turns a voodoo doll into fireworks. A spy in the manor keeps poisoning people? She smiles and feeds them a “loving tonic.” The System forces her to burn an aphrodisiac incense? She swaps it for a sleep aid, giving the male lead the soundest night's sleep he's had in eight years.

Later, the male lead asks her, eyes red, “Are you good or evil?”

She rolls her eyes. “What kind of person I am doesn't matter. What matters is this: from now on, I'm the one calling the shots in this household.”

When a wicked stepmother starts “taking her job” seriously and causing trouble, how does she end up becoming head of the household?
