In the winter of 1960, Silly Zhu, He Yuzhu, has an uncannily vivid dream: Banggeng, Xiaodang, and Huaihua from the Jia family drive him out of their home, leaving him to die of cold and hunger. The person who comes to collect his body is none other than his sworn enemy, Xu Damao, and even his own sister, He Yushui, refuses to acknowledge him.
When he wakes with a start, he finds a strange book called Birds Fill the Siheyuan. Its pages lay out everyone’s fate in stark detail: Jia Dongxu dies in a workplace accident; Yi Zhonghai spends his whole life scheming to make Silly Zhu provide for him in old age; Qin Huairu uses her tenderness to tie him to the Jia family as their live-in provider; and the three children grow up and turn their backs on him...
Was it a dream? A book? Or a warning from Heaven?
For the first time, twenty-six-year-old Silly Zhu opens his eyes. He won’t be anyone’s fool anymore, won’t raise other people’s children, and won’t let anyone play him for an idiot. Starting by slipping money to his sister and testing Yi Zhonghai, he’ll bring down this den of scheming neighbors one step at a time and live life on his own terms!
I think in terms of inner drama, this Siheyuan can be ranked among the top three on my bookshelf.
The weakest and most incompetent uncle in the Siheyuan novel. . . 😏😏😏[you taste it carefully]
It's a bit rough on the wheel, but overall it's okay.
