The Poetry Spirit Criminal Investigation Bureau

The Poetry-Spirit Crime Investigation Unit Basement, Linhai Public Security Bureau. This is the poorest department in all of China. It has eight authorized positions, but only four people actually work here. Its budget has been cut again and again, and other departments privately call them the "fortune-telling unit." Twenty-seven unsolved cases left by the previous chief hang on the wall, gathering dust. Nobody wants to take them on. Su Cijing does. A woman "reassigned" here by the provincial bureau, she brews a pot of tea every day and solves cases with profiling and a sharp tongue. Her poetry-spirit ability lets her touch the dead and sense the emotions they've left behind. Every time she uses it, she ends up throwing up. Jiang Wangshu is a "hothead" from the SWAT team, the kind who'd rather throw a punch than think. But once her domain unfolds, no one can escape. Wen Ruosheng is a rookie with perfect scores in theory. She faints at the sight of blood, yet has an almost obsessive determination to uncover the truth. Lu Tinglan is a severely antisocial tech geek who stares at six monitors and knows everyone's secrets. Four oddballs, solving cases where poetry is used to kill. In this city, someone uses "When life goes your way, make merry to your heart's content" to drain their victims of joy, while someone else uses "I cannot see the true face of Mount Lu" to alter everyone's memories. Poetry spirits aren't meant for solving crimes. But Su Cijing says: "That's what your brain is for." The case she most wants to solve is Case File No. 001, connected to her reassignment three years ago. And to the father of someone close to her.
