"The Silent Execution Ground" is an urban novel focusing on contemporary marriage, law and moral dilemmas. The story revolves around Lin Yan, a marriage lawyer who defends women who have suffered domestic violence and betrayal in court. She is the embodiment of rational justice. However, she herself was deeply involved in a secret relationship with the client's husband that lasted for three years. When the client's wife Shen Wei sat in her consulting room with irrefutable evidence, Lin Yan's professional and moral world began to collapse. She finds herself both a reliever of others' pain and an accomplice in another, more insidious emotional violence.
The novel constructs a "silent execution ground" by advancing Lin Yan's emergency protection order case and the collapse of her personal life in parallel. There is no gavel here, but the most severe inner trial is always going on, revealing the silent infliction of domestic violence (whether physical or mental cold violence) on the victim, as well as the self-punishment of the conscience of the perpetrators and bystanders. In the end, Lin Yan's redemption began with issuing a "personal safety protection order" to himself: prohibiting himself from continuing to live in lies, bravely bearing all the consequences, and finding true freedom and new life outside of the "high walls" of the law and the "institutionalization" of emotions.
