The sky shattered, the earth sank, and a cataclysm struck. Ordinary man Chu Xiu struggles to survive the apocalypse, only to unexpectedly bind himself to the [Good and Evil Balance System].
[Do good, earn good karma, and exchange it for blessings.]
[Punish evil, earn merit, and trade it for supernatural abilities.]
Chu Xiu thinks he's been handed the script of a savior, so he sets out to uphold justice in this shattered world.
He saves a girl being hunted by demons, and the System rewards him with [Good Karma +10], then reveals a hidden message: [Consequence: You disrupted the ritual in which she was to be sacrificed as a “human offering” to seal the demon lair. In three days, a million demons will break free.]
He kills a demonic cultivator who slaughtered a village, and the System rewards him with [Merit +100]. Another hidden message appears: [Consequence: This person was the “cleaner” chosen by the Heavenly Dao. His death has thrown the local “entropy” out of balance, accelerating the world's collapse by 0.1%.]
Does doing good bring about greater evil? Does punishing evil mean helping the wicked?
Chu Xiu finally understands: this cataclysm is no natural disaster. The “Heavenly Dao” thinks the world is too “filthy” and is carrying out a great purge!
And this “good man” who wants to save the world has become the number one enemy on the Heavenly Dao's purge list!
“Since the Heavenly Dao is so unjust, treating all living things as straw dogs...”
Chu Xiu looks at the blood-red [Fate Defying Destiny] on the System's screen, the mark of his opposition to the Heavenly Dao, and smiles.
“Then I'll defy the heavens and build a bright new world!”
