My Drill Instructor Is Actually My Ex-Boyfriend

[New rating, still rising + reconciliation after a breakup + military life + groveling ex + SC]

The bravest thing Lin Nianhe ever did wasn’t getting into the special forces after graduating from law school.

It was looking up at that stone-faced drill instructor on the training ground when she was nineteen and saying:

“Reporting, Instructor. I did nothing wrong.”

The instructor’s name was Lu Zhian.

Three years ago, he’d been her first love.

He’d said, “We’re from different worlds,” then vanished without a trace.

Three years later, he stood in front of the ranks, his cap pulled low and his voice as cold as ice.

He made her do push-ups, kept her in the most conspicuous spot in the entire company, and acted as if she didn’t exist.

Yet he still wore the ugly bracelet she’d made for him around his wrist.

He thought pushing her away was the best way to protect her.

She thought forgetting him would finally set her free.

But when he draped his raincoat over her in a torrential downpour, and when she babbled his name in a fever while lying on his back...

They both knew this reunion was destined to be the second round of their fated love.

He said, “Niannian, this time, I’ll be the one to pursue you.”

She said, “Instructor Lu, go ahead and pursue me. I won’t stop you.”

And then he really did pursue her for three years.

Bringing her breakfast at the cafeteria, sneaking glances at her on the training ground, posting only her photos on his social media...

A special-forces lieutenant, awkward as a lovestruck teenage boy.

But she didn’t dare say yes.

Because the last time she trusted him, he left.

It wasn’t until he was seriously injured and hospitalized, and she knelt outside the operating room, crying so hard she trembled, that she finally admitted there are some people you just can’t escape.

“Lu Zhian, if you dare to die, I’ll marry someone else.”

“Then you can forget about marrying someone else. I’m not going to die.”
