Hate, Yet Alluring as a City

In her previous life, the heroine's family was framed in a political scheme by the hero's father. Her entire family was imprisoned, then mysteriously died behind bars. Reborn as the hero's childhood sweetheart and fiancée, she returns to avenge her family and clear their name. She marries the hero, and through their love-hate relationship after the wedding, gradually falls for him. As they spend time together, the hero comes to accept and cherish her. But burdened by her family's deep-seated grudge, she eventually uncovers evidence that the hero's father is plotting a rebellion: he has secretly carved an imperial seal and made dragon robes and weapons. She succeeds in avenging her family from her previous life. When the hero learns that she is responsible for his family's downfall, he is torn between his family and his love for her, and finally breaks down completely. Just before the imperial army surrounds the family estate, he takes his own life in the family shrine. In the end, the heroine silently embraces his body, sets the shrine ablaze, and dies with him. In the final scene, the second male lead gathers the ashes of the hero and heroine and builds them a tomb, then rides toward the Northern Desert royal court in search of the second female lead's trail. Later, people say they saw the former master of the Drizzle Tower, the second male lead, and the Prince of Zhao's daughter, the princess who had been sent away in a political marriage, the second female lead, in an unnamed town.
