This is a world where "Tao" has become diseased. Three thousand years ago, the way of heaven was broken, and spiritual energy was no longer pure energy, but turned into "turbid air" with strong pollution.
Cultivation is transformation: monks absorb turbid air and must always fight against physical distortion. The higher you cultivate, the easier it is to become an indescribable monster (called "evil").
The Wilderness and the Human World: The world is divided into the "Great Wilderness" (a restricted area filled with the remains of ancient gods and aberrant creatures) and the "Human World" (the only remaining human refuge that relies on burning "fire" to resist darkness).
Core contradiction: Human beings must practice in order to survive, but practicing will accelerate the destruction of the world. The protagonist is the only being who can "purify" the turbid air and reverse the distortion.
