Synopsis
At the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, Yuelu Academy faced the dual crisis of suppression of official schools and the invasion of Jin soldiers from the south.
Zhou Mingyuan's family was poor when he was young. He was taken in by an old scholar in the academy and studied hard for ten years. He was upright by nature and did not flatter the powerful. He was framed because he refused to write flattering articles for corrupt officials. Shen Jingqiu secretly helped each other to expose corruption, and the two formed a deep friendship.
Jin soldiers went south, and the academy was forced to move south. On the way, the old headmaster died of illness, and he entrusted Zhou Mingyuan with the following words on his deathbed: "As long as the academy is here, the orthodoxy will continue." Some people advocated disbanding and taking refuge, but Zhou Mingyuan insisted on moving south to run the school and guarded three thousand volumes of books during the war.
In order to delay the pursuit, Shen Jingqiu diverted the enemy alone, and her life or death was unknown.
A few years later, Zhou Mingyuan rebuilt the academy in the south, opened lectures, and continued the Yuelu cultural context. One rainy night, there was a familiar knock on the door...
Content introduction
This is a story about "the immortality of context". In troubled times, a group of scholars did not choose to live in seclusion or seek refuge, but instead used their flesh and blood to protect the books and pass on the Taoism. Discussion of the novel: When civilization faces violence, how long can the scholar's character last? The answer is - as long as there is one person who remembers to ring the lecture bell, the cultural context will not be cut off.
