Even a Chuunibyou Wants to Save the World

Yu Bai is a hopelessly chuunibyou young man.

He firmly believes that an unknown “hidden world” exists: the traditional martial arts masters are real, the myths are true history, and peaceful everyday life is merely being protected by a group of hidden powerful people who quietly suppress dangers beyond ordinary people’s imagination.

Hoping to attract the attention of the “hidden world,” Yu Bai keeps fit, teaches himself martial arts, and puts on a mask to go out and fight injustice in the dead of night. He believes that if he works hard enough, one day a true master will appear before him and guide him onto the path of saving the world.

Then an out-of-control heavy truck came hurtling toward him. Without hesitation, Yu Bai charged at it and struck the steel behemoth with the strongest punch of his life.

Then everything went dark.

When Yu Bai opened his eyes again, the esper treating him told him that a great war had once engulfed the world, leaving a gap in history. Order had only been rebuilt atop the ruins a hundred years ago.

Yu Bai looked down at his perfectly healed arm, and a thought that set his blood racing rose in his heart:

I didn’t die. I was just asleep for a very long time.
