The biting coldness of the sea seems to be still stuck in the bone marrow, with a salty rusty smell. She opened her eyes suddenly, and the dazzling incandescent light made her squint instantly.

Memories came in like fragments - the deafening explosion, the tilting deck, the screaming people, the dark and cold water swallowing her up. She remembered sinking, her lungs burning, and her last bits of consciousness dissipating into the deep sea.

"Are you awake?"
A gentle female voice sounded nearby. Xia Lubing turned her stiff neck with difficulty and saw a young woman in a pink nurse uniform leaning over to look at her, holding a clipboard in her hand.
