The Nation Is Keeping a Close Eye on My Daily Life

Lin Shou, an immortal, tries to pass himself off as an ordinary city dweller in the modern metropolis. He meets Ye Xiaoman, a rookie agent in his “starter village” of political guardians: the Office of Abnormal Affairs and Stability, commonly known as the Stability Office. Ye Xiaoman’s job is to keep an eye on this “walking living history” and deal with the everyday disasters he causes, such as, “I just wanted to eat my noodles in peace, but the noodle shop owner is a descendant of a Ming dynasty imperial guard and insists I acknowledge our ancestral ties.” Lin Shou wants a peaceful life, but history keeps coming to find him.

The spiritual qi revival attracts beings from other dimensions, bringing clashes of rules and small-scale invasions. The guardians fight back with bureaucracy and paperwork. Lin Shou seeks a true retirement, resolves the last “historical loose ends,” and grows closer to the guardians.
