Journey to the West: After Devouring Everything in the Three Realms, the Jade Emperor Shows Up

Foodie heroine + cultivation through cooking + System + Michelin-starred chef + beloved by all three realms + Sun Wukong + hilarious cultivation

Foodie Lin Kesong transmigrates into a book set in Journey to the West. From the start, she becomes an offering and nearly ends up as an ingredient for a mountain god. At her most desperate, she binds herself to a foodie cultivation System, complete with a three-Michelin-star kitchen space. Everything in the three realms can be cooked, and every meal makes her stronger. With the System’s help, she escapes danger and takes Sun Wukong, who hasn’t even found a master yet, as her little brother.

At Mount Lingtai Fangcun, she happily works as a kitchen hand, cooking every kind of spiritual plant from the mountains and forests. At Flower-Fruit Mountain, she accompanies her monkey brother as he samples rare delicacies from far and wide, and before she knows it, she has cultivated to become an Earth Immortal. During the tribulation of Journey to the West, she follows Wukong to Heaven and opens the Immortal Realm’s first Michelin-starred restaurant. The Nine-Turn Golden Elixir Buddha Jumps Over the Wall becomes the Jade Emperor’s favorite dish, while peach ice cream takes Heaven by storm and becomes a specialty served exclusively at the Jade Pool.

With his big sister looking after him, the monkey keeps lying flat and refuses to make trouble in Heaven. After Tathagata urges them again and again, the Jade Emperor, Queen Mother, and Dao Ancestor come in person to beg: if you won’t make trouble, how are we supposed to settle the bill for all those peaches and elixirs you’ve eaten?

With no other choice, she and her little brother decide to play along. When Wukong is imprisoned beneath Five-Finger Mountain, she catches a Six-Eared Macaque to suffer in his place. When Tang Sanzang is born, she uses a nourishing Golden Cicada soup as bait, turning the Western Ox Continent into a demonic underworld, where the Bull Demon King gets his kidneys harvested and New Orleans-style roast roc becomes the signature dish.

When the journey to the West is over, Wukong attains enlightenment, while her cultivation surpasses even Hongjun, the Heavenly Dao. Transcending the world would let her return to the present, but Lin Kesong is troubled. After spending a thousand years together day and night, how could she bear to leave her monkey brother behind?

On the day she transcends, Lin Kesong stands in sorrow on Black Wind Ridge, where she first met Kongkong. A hand lands on her shoulder, just like Kongkong’s did that day, only this hand is no longer covered in fur…
