Kamiya Yu is an ordinary student at a nearby boys' high school who works part-time at the Blue Note music shop. He is good at repairing instruments and adjusting equipment, and can quickly pick out the chords and rhythm of a tune after hearing it just once.
All he wanted was to go to school quietly, work quietly, and keep himself tucked away at the edge of the stage.
The trouble is, Sakura High's Light Music Club is not the sort of place where anyone can quietly slip away.
On his first day after transferring, he goes to the old school building to deliver some equipment and stumbles upon the Light Music Club's disastrous rehearsal. After fixing the amplifier on the spot, he gets roped into staying by Ritsu, a cup of tea, and a slice of cake.
From then on, whenever the equipment breaks, they call him; whenever an arrangement gets stuck, they call him; and when a live show is coming up, they call him too.
He started out as nothing more than an outside helper passing through, but gradually realized that he had grown used to heading to that clubroom after school.
This is not a story about a male lead stealing the spotlight from the original cast.
It's a story about what happens when the After-School Tea Time gets one more seat: everyone keeps drinking tea together, writing songs together, and singing on a little longer about those after-school days that haven't yet had the chance to end.
Why doesn't anyone comment? The first few dozen chapters felt too cold on the emotional side.
