On the day I graduated from vocational high school, I thought this was the end of my life. Until the Tajik uncle said to me: "I am a farmer and you are a cadre. There are two people in our family."
My name is Shen Huai, a "weirdo" who went all the way from vocational high school to undergraduate.
He studies food science, but can repair machines, understand herbal medicine, and can draw two rune engineering drawings. My grades are ranked twelfth, neither high nor low, and I am both sophisticated and sophisticated in my studies. Others call me a geek, but I just want to put the separated knowledge back together again.
In my graduation year, I went to the Pamir Plateau.
Taxkorgan Township, 4,000 meters above sea level, has seven villages and more than 400 households that have been lifted out of poverty. I was assigned to the Rural Revitalization Office, and my marriage partner was a Tajik uncle named Tursun who was slightly mentally ill.
When they first met, he faced the wall and said nothing.
The fifth time, he spoke: "What color is the lake?"
"Blue."
"It's green."
I didn't correct him. Just sitting there, drinking tea, in silence. Once, twice, five times, eleven times.
Until one day, he said something to me that I will never forget in my life:
"I am a farmer and you are a cadre. There are two people in our family."
Here, I repaired thirty-seven machines, built a dairy processing unit, and renovated one hundred and thirty-seven household toilets. I thought I was here to help them, but later I found out——
They helped me.
Help me connect the scattered knowledge into a network, help me change the word "freak" into "a little bit of everything", and help me find my roots in the wind of Pamir.
This book is adapted from the author's experience in the Western Plan and is dedicated to all those who come to the frontier from afar.
