I’m a Mythic Detective at a Virtual Company

My name is Su Moyan, and I'm a detective with face blindness.

Other people recognize faces by looking at them. I identify people through microexpressions, voice patterns, and data streams. After all, in the virtual idol industry, faces are the least valuable thing.

A top-tier virtual idol vanished mysteriously during a livestream. The whole company searched for three days and couldn't find so much as a single strand of hair. On my first day on the case, I discovered something was wrong: the company's servers weren't running virtual-human models at all. They were running ancient deities from the Classic of Mountains and Seas!

The CEO was Queen Mother of the West, the systems engineer was Jingwei, the security guard was Xing Tian, and the product manager was Yu the Great... They used data as their bodies and traffic as their food, hiding in the shadows of the virtual idol empire.

And my face blindness became the only key to seeing through their virtual disguises and unraveling the mythological mystery. Cases involving missing virtual idols, murders in data space, secrets about the awakening of ancient divine identities... As I peeled back layer after layer of truth, I discovered that I, the “observer,” was the most crucial piece in this game between myth and reality.
