A story about how a straight man falls in love
[A prickly, awkward, terrible-at-communicating top who fiercely protects his wife x a short-tempered, slow-on-the-uptake, blunt-tongued straight bottom]
[Slow-burn romance + sweet indulgence + two strong leads + devoted to each other + push and pull + secretly planned for a long time + happy ending, fictional modern setting]
“My Shen family has only me left who’s unmarried. Otherwise, I’d marry in my sister’s place.”
One angry remark lands Shen Jingyu in a den of wolves, while Chu Qi brings home a firecracker of a wife.
Chu Qi is happy enough about it, though sometimes the slaps come out of nowhere.
Still, before the hand comes flying, his wife’s fragrance reaches him first.
It doesn’t hurt, and he enjoys it.
Shen Jingyu has been spoiled his whole life. Though he struts around his own family, he’s only hot-tempered and has never done anything truly wrong.
Then this whole family of traitors goes and packs him off to the Chu household.
Chu Qi brings Shen Jingyu home without too much trouble, sweet-talking him and feeding him all the good things.
Before long, Shen Jingyu is strutting through the city of Su, then strutting through the capital.
When Shen Jingyu turns the Chu household upside down and lifts his chin to provoke Chu Qi, Chu Qi says, “Just the way I like it.”
When Shen Jingyu takes advantage of him and swindles him out of a chunk of money, Chu Qi says, “Well done.”
When Shen Jingyu sits obediently beside Chu Qi and tries to get closer, Chu Qi eyes him warily. “You haven’t done anything wrong today, so you don’t have an excuse to slap me.”
In a one-sided war of attrition, Shen Jingyu is the one who gets won over by Chu Qi.
