A Hasty Marriage Turns Addictive

A power couple, married before they fall in love, indulging each other to the fullest, and building their careers side by side.

No angst, no contrived drama, no rivalry between women. Sweet from beginning to end, and the more they dote on each other, the more addictive it gets.

On the day they marry in a whirlwind ceremony,

he says, “We’ll live our own lives and stay out of each other’s way.”

She says, “Okay.”

But when her thesis gets held up, he stays up until two in the morning editing it line by line.

When her advisor retaliates against her, he kicks open the door of an abandoned auditorium like a man possessed.

She casually mentions that she wants some noodles made by her mother.

He spends all night on the phone learning the recipe from his mother-in-law, then serves them to her.

This cold, distant man, who never says he loves her, hides all his tenderness in what he does.

And she has never been a canary who needs protecting.

When he’s plied with drinks at a business dinner, she faces the old fox alone, records evidence, and sends him trending online.

When he frets over a project being held up, she stays up for several nights working on a proposal that wins provincial-level approval.

From a marriage of convenience to a love that goes both ways, from unfamiliar roommates to partners standing side by side.

She says, “Yuan Yu’an, I’m not someone who can only be protected by you. I can stand beside you.”

He says, “Wang Yining, I used to think marriage was a waste of time. Now I know that having you sent to me by fate is the greatest gift I could ever receive.”

Seeds need sunlight to grow, and so do people.

And you are the light I turn toward.
