The Journey of the Fading Lamp

In the fourth year of the Jingyou era, the wandering Taoist Shen Qichen had not a penny to his name when he walked into a ruined temple.

He did not know that beneath the old locust tree at the village entrance lay a sinister formation that had been buried for centuries.

He did not know what was beginning to stir in the depths of the dry well.

He knew only one thing: if he did not do it, no one would.

This is the story of a poor Taoist. He was so poor he could not afford food or shoes, and had nothing left but a lamp, a sword, and a heart.

Yet that heart had shone in the darkness for a very, very long time.
