The duty of the night watchman is simple - sit on a hard chair on the third floor from 23:00 to 5:00 every night and guard an unlocked door. What's behind the door? No one told him. The rule book only contains ten provisions:
Don't fall asleep. Don't respond to the voice behind the door. Don't look at that door at three seventeen in the morning. You can only leave for two hours a day. If you feel "safe" - run away immediately.
If the door is open, nothing needs to be done. Because by that time, there is nothing left for you to do.
Reader comments
Basically, it is the protagonist's own growth process. There are not many other characters. It is not an entertaining novel, but more like a practical literary work by the author. After reading a few chapters, I feel that the abstraction level of this novel is a bit like that of a Nobel Prize-winning novel. It is more philosophical. It may not seem like the fun of a refreshing novel, but it can make people calm down in the fast-paced, noisy and impetuous life. I read half of it and didn't finish it. I was still too impetuous, but I give the author a thumbs up!
