There was a monk named Tang Sanwan in the Jinshan Temple of the Tang Dynasty who had only one hobby: eating.
He ate up all the vegetable plots in the temple, chewed off the kitchen beams, and didn't even spare the koi in the pond. The abbot couldn't afford to support him anymore, so he had an idea and tricked him into telling him that Xitian Lingshan had unparalleled delicacies - Bodhi fruit, merit rice, and Prajna soup, and asked him to "get sutras".
Tang Sanwan believed it, and embarked on the westward journey carrying a "all things pot" that could cook anything delicious.
On the way, he rescued Sun Wukong who was crushed by Wuzhi Mountain - not because of mercy, but because the monkey said he had eaten flat peaches.
He accepted Zhu Bajie—not because of fate, but because he wanted to cut his flesh and eat it.
The monk who took the sand was not because he needed a coolie, but because he needed a vegetable washer and chopping person.
From then on, the four masters and apprentices headed west and ate together.
The white bone essence was made into bone soup hot pot, the spider essence was fried into skewers, the python essence was turned into a whole snake feast, the centipede essence was soaked into medicinal wine... It was difficult for eighty-one, but three bowls of sugar were eaten and eighty-one dishes were eaten.
Immortals from all walks of life lined up to plead: "This monster is my mount, can you let him go?"
Wiping his mouth with three bowls of candy: "Okay, but you have to compensate me for a meal."
Finally arriving at Lingshan, Tang Sanwan discovered that the so-called scriptures were all vegetarian recipes, and fell out on the spot——
"Tathagata, you really owe me a meal!"
So, he took his disciples and robbed the scriptures from Daleiyin Temple...
Everything in the world can be put into the pot. It is better to obtain the taste than to obtain sutras, and to become a Buddha is inferior to eating a full meal.
