After Work, the Underworld Calls Me to Hit My KPI
Even in the afterlife, corporate drifter and ferryman Xiang Qingshan can't escape the beating of performance reviews.
As a Grade C, Division D, Level Two officer at the Underworld's Human Realm Affairs Office, Xiang Qingshan wields a "Soul-Eradicating Gun" (budget version), drives a Wuling Hongguang, and munches on compressed soul-power bars hard enough to break a ghost's teeth as he weaves through the shadows of a bustling city. His job is simple: persuade the souls lingering in the human world to return, soothe them, and guide them onward, maintaining the balance between yin and yang. His goal is straightforward: meet his monthly KPI and hold on to his meager salary and merit points.
But this batch of ghosts is hard to manage, and he always falls just short of his KPI. The Class C spirit haunting a murder house is too troublesome, his Soul-Eradicating Gun always runs out of power at the worst possible moment, and the Underworld's logistics supervisor is obsessed with melodramatic human TV shows and loves rejecting his expense claims. He wants to keep his head down and get results, but at the worst possible moments he keeps running into living people, forcing him to play the part of a "crazy appliance repairman" or a "promoter of feudal superstition."
