From rainy nights in Tingen to Backlund's dense fog, from echoes across the sea to the smoke of war, and then through the long vigil after the Fool takes his seat, he grows from an ordinary witness into a pillar-level Primordial Recorder. He fights a secret archival faction that alters identities and reaps lives, always guarding the limits of record-keeping: he does not define the dead's sacrifices for them, force others' secrets into completion, or presume to write the world's ending.
He is a marginal witness to the grand narrative of the mysterious world, and a Nightwatcher for all the nameless people swallowed by the tides of their era and all the missing pages in the archives.
