We Dug Open Zhu Di’s Coffin, but There Was No Body Inside!

My name is Xu Changsheng, the last book restorer of the Butian Pavilion in the capital.

That day, while restoring a damaged Ming dynasty manuscript, I found a map made of human skin hidden between its pages.

It bore a single line of blood-written characters, in the hand of Zhu Di, the Yongle Emperor of the Ming dynasty, six hundred years ago:

“Whoever sees this map, come at once. If you delay, the world will descend into chaos!”

The original copy of the Yongle Encyclopedia, which scholars have debated for centuries, wasn’t burned at all. Zhu Di took it with him into a most sinister tomb!

Did the Jianwen Emperor survive? Were Zheng He’s seven voyages to the Western Seas an effort to find an underwater tomb?

To uncover the truth, I led my team through countless brushes with death and blasted open the underground palace at Changling.

But the moment the coffin lid was lifted, everyone went mad.

There were no remains in Zhu Di’s coffin at all!

There was only a silk scroll that read: “I have gone. Do not seek me.”

Gold ingots from the underground palace of the Marquis of Haihun in the Western Han dynasty, the blood sacrifice of a living person buried as a foundation stone by the son of King Zhou of Shang, bizarre cases in Jiangnan involving the Ming dynasty’s imperial guards...

I wasn’t restoring books at all. I was restoring the terrifying truths erased from five thousand years of Chinese history!

Anyone who dares stop me from protecting these relics will find me digging up their ancestors!
