Introduction to "Qianzhongji"
[Feelings of family and country + bloody battles + family inheritance]
In the troubled times of the late Yuan Dynasty, Jiangyin in the south of the Yangtze River. Xi Cheng, a descendant of Jinshi of the Song Dynasty, trained with his father to protect himself and guard a small village. In the fifteenth year of Zhizheng year, one rainy night, Zhu Yuanzhang's envoy knocked on the door of his house and asked for the Jiangyin city defense map. My father handed over the map, but refused to accept the reward. He only asked for one sentence: "When you rule the world in the future, don't forget the people of Jiangyin."
Xi Cheng embarked on the westward journey with a knife, a set of hand-written copies of "The Analects of Confucius" and two young sons. From Yuanzhou to Huangzhou, from Zangda to Puding, and from Puding to Pingyue, he spent fifteen years fighting his way through the miasma and bandits on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. In the twenty-third year of Hongwu's reign, he became ill due to overwork. He wrote a letter begging for his bones, was awarded the title of general in martial arts, and was buried in Jiangyin.
The eldest son, Xi Lun, inherited his father's ambition, guarded Pingyue, held Guilin, and went to Annan. He was as tough as a mountain throughout his life. The second son, Xi Zheng, gave up martial arts and became a farmer. He cultivated wasteland in Yanglaoyi, took in homeless people, and turned a wasteland into a village of 100 households. The third son, Xi Min, stayed at his old house in Jiangyin, guarding the ancestral hall, the locust tree, and the fish in the water tank. Three brothers, three paths, each on the same side, but with the same heart.
This is not a story about a general fighting a war, this is a six-hundred-year-old epic of a family - some people go to the battlefield, some people stay behind, and some people record it all. They use their own ways to guard the same thing: the loyal family heirloom.

One sentence to highlight: Three brothers, three roads, one family - what they guard is not official positions, but four words passed down from their father.
