Highway Horror Stories: SSS-Rank Clear Every Time

As the supernatural descends upon the world, all land disappears, leaving only an infinitely stretching black highway. Everyone is dragged into rule-based horror instances. Clear one, and you get three days’ worth of supplies. Fail, and you die. When night falls, monsters run rampant, targeting vehicles first. When the car is wrecked, its passengers die. While everyone else struggles to survive within the rules, every step a brush with death, Lin Chen awakens [Peril Alert], a passive ability that reveals rule hints only one second before he dies. It’s not proactive. It can’t see through anything. It’s no cheat code. With nothing but the hints and his wits, he clears every instance with an SSS rating! Ratings earn coins, and coins upgrade his divine car. From a beat-up sedan, he upgrades it all the way into a divine car. The monsters of the night dare not approach, and he can roam freely through deadly rule-based traps. The world channel is stunned: “Why does he always get an SSS?” “Why are the monsters afraid to touch his car?” “What secret about the rules has he figured out?” Lin Chen looks at the newly refreshed instance before him and smiles faintly. The next instance, another SSS.
