Pursuing Jade: Wei Yan Is Reborn

In the thirty-seventh year of Yong'an, Wei Yan, the powerful chancellor, was left to die in the imperial prison.

There was no imperial decree, no accusation, only a cup of poisoned wine secretly brought by his nephew, Xie Zheng, so he could keep his body intact.

Born to a humble family, he had once held a crumbling empire together with an iron fist, bearing a legacy of infamy for generations to come;

yet he could only watch as his dear friend Xie Linshan died in his place, and the entire Xie family was falsely accused and brought down;

while his childhood sweetheart, Qi Rongyin, was forcibly taken into the palace by the late emperor, where she endured a lonely, bitter life.

He held all the power in the realm, yet had barely a moment of life, spent half of it alone, and died without protecting a single person.

After drinking the poison, his soul returned to the age of seventeen.

Back then, he had yet to enter officialdom, the court was still at peace, the Xie family was still safe, and Qi Rongyin was still at home, never having set foot inside the palace walls.

Given another life, he abandoned the path of a powerful minister and put aside his thirst for violence. His eyes no longer held ambitions for the realm, only old debts and people he had once known.

He would protect his dearest friend and keep the entire Xie family safe;

keep her from the palace and give her a peaceful, ordinary life;

turn away from political schemes and keep those by his side safe year after year.

In his previous life, he sacrificed everyone he loved for the realm;

in this life, he would abandon the realm itself to keep them safe.

The jade pursued its way home, and the cold jade shone once more.

In this life, he would be no lonely minister. He would only protect the world he held dear.
