Xiao Ying was an abandoned infant in the mountains of late Qing China. Raised on spring water by an old bamboo artisan, she uses her bamboo-weaving skills to illuminate her own destiny and those of others amid the chaos of a troubled age. In time, she grows into a master craftswoman and a spark for women's awakening.
