In the late autumn of 1937, at the welcome party of Nanjing Central University, Chen Xubai from the Journalism Department, Zhou Yifan from the Sociology Department, and Su Wanqing from the Foreign Languages Department met on the eve of troubled times. Amidst the sound of artillery fire, the three of them carved "There must be a date of return" on the mountain behind the school and agreed to see each other after the war, but they were swept away by history.
In the next fifty years, the three people took completely different paths - the war changed not only the years, but the thunder after the suffering years.
