When Jiang Lin woke up, he discovered that he had become a disciple of Patriarch Subhuti. Even Wukong had to address him as Uncle-Master.
He possessed three supreme attributes: heaven-defying comprehension, an indestructible spirit, and a body that had attained sainthood.
While Sun Wukong wreaked havoc in Heaven, he watched the show. On the pilgrimage, he rode the White Dragon Horse around for fun. While the Buddha preached, he sat in the front row cracking sunflower seeds.
The gods and Buddhas across Heaven thought he was just an idle Daoist who coasted through life, until a great calamity befell the Three Realms.
The Buddha asked, “Jiang Lin, who are you, really?”
Jiang Lin smiled. “Nothing special. I was just born five hundred years before you.”
