One hundred and twenty years ago, a disaster called "Silence" destroyed all electronic equipment, and human civilization fell from the information age back to the wilderness overnight.
Aaron Cole is a scavenger in the city-state of Springs. His job is to recover relics from the old world in the ruins, exchange parts for rations, and survive day after day. Until he received a box left behind by his father ten years after his disappearance.
Inside the box was a photo, a key and a note. The photo showed his mother whom he had never seen before; the key was engraved with a number: 07; the note read: "Your mother is still alive. She is in Zone Zero. Don't come to me."
Aaron discovers that Silence is not a natural disaster, but a man-made disaster - the military burned down the entire world with their own hands in order to cover up a forbidden experiment that went out of control. His mother was one of the first volunteers in the experiment. Today, the "interfacer", the creation of the experiment, is sleeping in the Zero Zone. They are neither humans nor machines, but something entirely new.
In order to find his mother, Aaron must go deep into the most dangerous restricted area of the wasteland and fight against mutant creatures, predators and the pursuit of his "own people". But he soon discovered that the truth was more cruel than he imagined——

Aaron's choice is simple: find her and kill her himself. Or, accept what she became and turn against the entire remaining human race.
