The plot still follows the TV adaptation, but with a happy ending, and draws on the original novel.

I wanted to write a “girlboss and her loyal dog” dynamic because I watched so many interviews, interactions, and behind-the-scenes clips of the two actors. Their off-screen chemistry inspired this happy-ending version of Qianqian and Qi Min.
