Exorcism by Science: Lin Yan’s Folklore Investigations

The dragon murals in the ancient town “bleed,” paper ash floats up from the bottom of a well bearing a message from the dead, and a funeral procession stalks people for their lives in the dead of night. The “Dragon Curse” of Qingwu Town has everyone on edge. Lin Yan, a top physics student, returns with a compass app and cutting-edge technology. Thermal imaging exposes the fraudsters hiding behind the murals, algorithmic modeling reconstructs the truth about the underground river's diversion, and infrasound analysis unmasks a murder plot.

He teams up with Su Jiuniang, an heir to folk traditions, Chen Tiezhu, the group's muscle, and A Ruan, a paper-crafting prodigy. Together, they delve into ancestral hall chambers, Kunlun mines, and an abandoned paper mill, taking on the Xuanzhen Society, which cloaks its evil deeds in mysticism. Family secrets, experiments on living subjects, and a ley-line resonance array are gradually brought to light. Armed with science, Lin Yan will unravel the folk mysteries, uncover the truth behind his father's disappearance, and ensure no “demon” can hide from him.
