The Gravity Law of Seventeen and Zero Ten is a campus romance about two women, featuring a younger physicist and her older architecture major. Using “universal gravitation” as a metaphor, it tells of the collision between reason and emotion, and the romantic journey of two souls who move from being drawn into each other’s orbits to resonating in harmony.
Seventeen (younger, the pursued): A first-year physics student with short hair and a straightforward, slightly impulsive personality. At first, she is Zero Ten’s “observation subject.” Later, she discovers that the other girl has complete control over her heartbeat, and the laws of physics no longer apply.
Zero Ten (older, the pursuer): A third-year architecture student with long, slightly wavy hair. She seems cool and self-assured, but is sensitive at heart. Skilled at building worlds with paintbrushes and models, she finds every rational contingency plan shattered by Seventeen’s arrival.
The story begins with a chance encounter during an “astronomical observation.” Zero Ten approaches Seventeen “experimentally,” under the pretext of being her senior, but is the first to lose control beneath the starry sky. The two go through a period of evasions and tentative tests (a non-inertial frame), confess their feelings beneath the dormitory building (establishing a binary-star system), and then enter a period of adjustment (orbital resonance). Zero Ten is a commanding “captain” in her professional field, but in love she is a restrained, protective partner. Seventeen, meanwhile, grows from being passively weightless into someone who can understand and support her.
Physical terminology runs throughout the story, including inertial force, tidal locking, and gravitational constant corrections. It transforms flirtatious tension and heart-fluttering moments into rigorous mechanical analysis, creating a distinctive atmosphere where an exterior of reason wraps around profound devotion.
