This isn't a game. It's another real world. Other people play games, but somehow I've become a “special player” in this world. I've got a health bar, skills, and an inventory, just like in a game, but there's one deadly rule: if I die, I'm really dead.
The Guardian's face turned from black to red, then from red to purple. It had lived for eight hundred years, and never before had a Level 15 human insulted it like this.
“Shut up!” It opened its huge mouth, and a mass of black energy began gathering in its throat.
Chen Ran's eyes lit up. Its mouth was open.
Now!
He pushed off the ground, activated Windstep, and shot forward like an arrow.
Before the Guardian could spit out its black flame projectile, Chen Ran had already rushed beneath its chin.
He gripped his sword in his right hand, aimed at its gaping maw, and thrust it inside.
Armor-piercing attack!
The sword plunged into its throat.
-8500!
The Guardian let out a bloodcurdling squeal. The black flame projectile exploded in its throat, turning the inside of its mouth into a bloody mess. It clutched its mouth and stumbled back two steps, tears streaming from its eyes.
“You! You! You!” It pointed at Chen Ran, its voice rising to a shriek. “You despicable scoundrel! I've never seen a human as shameless as you!”
“How am I despicable? I don't see it. I think I'm doing great!” Chen Ran shrugged, shaking the black blood and saliva off his sword. “You opened your mouth and invited me to hit you. How's that my fault?”
“Besides, your breath stinks so bad you nearly knocked me out. I guess I should start carrying masks around. Every time I run into something, it reeks worse than the last. Who can stand that?”
The storyline is compact, not procrastinating, and innovative. I hope the author will continue to update it.
