Synopsis
During the Jingtai reign of the Ming dynasty, Emperor Zhu Qiyu is gravely ill and has no son, leaving the succession unresolved. The retired emperor Zhu Qizhen, confined in the Southern Palace, watches and waits for his chance. At court, powerful eunuchs and upright officials scheme against each other, while Oirat cavalry stir along the border.
On a storm-tossed night, a soul from the twenty-first century quietly arrives in the body of a disgraced crown prince, forgotten by everyone in the Eastern Palace of the Forbidden City.
When he opens his eyes, all he faces is hunger, cold, and the constant threat of death.
The only card in his hand is his knowledge of how every major event over the next seven years will unfold.
