Beneath the Rose Tree

A chance encounter in a rose garden planted the seeds of a deep love between Alan, a young writer, and Lina, a literary-minded girl in a wheelchair, in the European countryside.

A sudden car accident sent them hurtling toward the edge of fate: she donated her corneas to restore his sight, but a chain of unforeseen disasters left him behind bars.

Thirty years in prison, a stream of anonymous letters, and a pair of rose-patterned olive-wood beads were all that kept him going.

When he finally walked free, he discovered that the benefactor who had silently watched over him for half his life was the very woman he had loved and hated for thirty years.

Beneath a century-old rose tree, they fulfilled a lifetime of waiting and misunderstanding with a long-delayed reunion, etching their love, which had crossed death and time, forever into the sea of flowers.
