Chen Xun awakens in the repair pod of a consciousness-upload laboratory, only to discover that he has lost all of his memories.
The electronic log beside him contains just one line: “Your memories were deliberately deleted: the person who did it was you from the future.”
He is told that humanity has invented memory cloud backup technology, which can digitize and store consciousness. But Chen Xun’s backup file has been severely tampered with. The only way to restore it is to follow the coordinates left behind by the System and retrace the path that “he” once took. Every stop contains an encrypted fragment of memory.
But when he reaches the first destination, a mysterious signal suddenly connects to his neural interface, transmitting a holographic message from “future Chen Xun”:
“Don’t trust the laboratory. They aren’t trying to help you recover your memories: they’re trying to erase the truth you once discovered. And that truth is hidden at the end of this journey.”
