In order to complete the creation of picture books with the theme of the Republic of China, freelance illustrator Lin Zhan visited the Municipal Cultural Relics Restoration Center three times. He accidentally broke into the studio of restorer Shen Yici and met this cool and reserved ancient book restorer. The two became connected through a handbook of Su Manqing, a woman from the Republic of China. Shen Yici made an exception and asked Lin Zhan to follow up on the repair work of the handbook. Lin Zhan, touched by the century-old lovesickness in the handbook, gradually fell in love with the gentle and persistent Shen Yici.
Getting along day and night, the two went in both directions. When they encountered obstacles in repairing the key pages of the account, Lin Zhan relied on his familiarity with Su Manqing's painting style to restore the drawings and help Shen Yici break the impasse, and the two formally established their relationship. After falling in love and living together, the two supported each other in their careers. Shen Yici once fell into self-doubt when faced with his junior brother Chen Nian's conflict of restoration ideas and the career turmoil of the cultural relic damage accident. Lin Zhan always firmly protected him, using his paintbrush to clear his name and accompany him out of the slump. This also contributed to his mature restoration concept of "handwork as the mainstay, technology as the supplement".
The arrival of Su Manqing's grandson Lu Mingyu completed the story of staying together for half a century, and also allowed the two to work together to complete new cultural relic restoration and picture book creation projects. Faced with the differences in life choices, the two were honest and successful with each other, and finally completed the proposal and got married at the special exhibition on the second anniversary of their meeting. Ten years later, the two have two sons and a daughter, and have become industry backbones in their respective fields. They have not only preserved the cultural relics and stories of time, but also lived a love that is still touching even after a hundred years.
