A deafening voice burst beside his ear, full of frustrated anger. An Yang suddenly opened his eyes and gasped for breath. The sharp pain in his chest still seemed to be there, and his heart pounded as if it were about to leap out of his throat.
He looked up in a daze. Before him was neither the cold floor of an office tower nor a computer screen at three in the morning, but a familiar blackboard covered in tightly packed mathematical formulas, and a familiar, angry face.
It was his high school homeroom teacher and math teacher, Wang Jianguo.
Suppressed laughter rose around him. An Yang turned his head instinctively and saw a row of faces that were both familiar and strange: his high school classmates. Some were trying not to laugh, some were watching the show, and one, sitting in the last row, wore a mocking smile. It was Zhang Hao, just as An Yang remembered him from his youth.
