Transmigrating into Journey to the West: Call Me Mother

Lin Wan, a modern tourism planner, unexpectedly transmigrates into Journey to the West as the White Bone Spirit. Knowing the entire plot, she resolves to avoid the original’s deadly fate, both to stay alive and to avoid becoming a man-eating monster. She takes the initiative to become Tang Sanzang’s disciple and calls herself Bai Xiaogu. She has modern knowledge, the White Bone Spirit’s magic (which she’s afraid to use in case it awakens her demonic nature), and a golden finger that lets her foresee the plot. Whenever a monster appears, she gets the dialogue out first and uses her modern know-how to defuse the crisis. She even teaches monsters how to start businesses (the Black Bear Spirit opens a furniture shop, while Gold Horn and Silver Horn make cosmetics, among other ventures) and shows ordinary people survival skills, putting the principle of “teach them to fish” into practice. Along the way, Tang Sanzang is drawn to her clear-headedness, kindness, and wild ideas. The compassionate holy monk gradually falls for her, and whenever her demonic nature threatens to take over, he gently brings her back. After enduring one trial after another, Tang Sanzang breaks his vows for love, and together they face the doubts of gods and Buddhas. In the end, he refuses to become a Buddha, and the two descend the mountain together to open an inn and keep teaching people to fish. In the finale, the heroine uses a forbidden spell to share her life with Tang Sanzang. Reborn in the modern world, they meet again and get their happy ending.

“Seriously, I graduated from a top-tier university. Why couldn’t I transmigrate as anyone but the White Bone Spirit?” Lin Wan clutched her head. “According to the plot, Sun Wukong is coming in a couple of days. He’ll kill me with one blow, then Tang Sanzang will chant the tightening spell. Classic scene incoming, ”

“Call me Master when we’re out there. In private, call me Sanzang.”

“Ma’am, Old Pig’s got a favor to ask!”
