1946, Chongqing.
Chen Mingsheng, chief of the anti-terrorism section of the Secrecy Bureau, codenamed "Ferry" - an underground member of the CCP lurking in the heart of the enemy.
His wife Gu Xiaoya, who has been married for four months, is gentle, considerate and knowledgeable. She sneaks into his study every night after he goes to bed and looks through every piece of paper and every book he has. She is the "silver bullet" sent by the Secrecy Bureau, and this marriage has been a mission from the beginning.
A comrade who has been dead for ten years suddenly appears, bringing shocking news: there is a "chess player" hidden within the organization, and Chen Mingsheng himself is just a chess piece on the chessboard that can be discarded at any time.
On the night of the meeting, the comrades were silenced by mysterious gunmen. Zheng Mingchuan tested him with the keepsake found on the corpse, his wife contacted his immediate boss in private, and someone was watching outside the window late at night——
He is caught between the suspicion of the Secrecy Bureau and the suspicion of the underground party. Every step is an abyss.
Reader comments
A different kind of spy novel, a plain life, may be the final destination that every agent longs for, despite countless sacrifices and forbearance. However, some paragraphs have a high repetition rate. I wonder if the author did this intentionally.
I haven't continued reading any of the recent spy novels. Fortunately, this book is very well written. I can feel that the author writes calmly and rigorously without being mystical. There is suspense everywhere in the article, attracting readers to follow it step by step.
I like to understand the history of heaven and the difficulties of our ancestors
The undercurrent is surging, too dangerous.
The story is very exciting and interesting. I hope to write more. Thank you.
The plot is coherent, good
It's true, but a bit weird, and it always feels like a contradiction.
