The Promotion Storm: From Obscure Employee to Industry Mogul

From the supply closet to the top of her industry, she spent three years lying low to turn everything upside down and show them all: underestimate someone biding their time, and you’ll be forced to look up at them.

"Career Comeback: From the Supply Closet to Nasdaq"

At three in the morning, only one lonely light was still on in Shengyuan Tower’s marketing department.

Lin Wei huddled in the cold supply closet, clutching the proposal she had just revised, her fingertips numb with cold. Outside the door, Director Zhang Tao’s laughter drifted in, mingled with the smell of alcohol. “Don’t worry, Mr. Wang. I stayed up all night revising that proposal. The client’s sure to be happy... What? Lin Wei? She’s just a gofer. What would she know about planning?”

After her proposal had been stolen for the seventeenth time, she finally couldn’t hold back any longer and buried her face in her knees. In three years at the company, her proposals had made three projects into hits, but Zhang Tao had taken all the credit. Even her performance bonus this month had been docked, just because she refused to sign a fake name on his expense report.

“Well, well, Lin the great planner is still working overtime?” Zhang Tao drunkenly shoved open the supply closet door, a dismissal notice in his hand. “The boss signed off on this. You don’t need to come in tomorrow. You young people are so clueless. Don’t you know you have to follow the ‘rules’ at work?”

Lin Wei jerked her head up. Her eyes were more bloodshot than the proposal was covered in revisions. She looked at Zhang Tao’s greasy grin, then at the dismissal notice that said “does not meet the requirements of the position,” and suddenly laughed, laughing until tears came to her eyes.

“Director Zhang,” she said, slowly rising to her feet and slapping the proposal onto the table. Her voice was quiet, but firm. “Would you dare tell the client to their face that you wrote this proposal yourself?”
