In ancient times, a rift in the netherworld opened in the human world, and endless resentful spirits poured out of it. Everywhere they passed, all creatures were devastated and their souls were destroyed. This was known in history as the "Age of Annihilation."
In order to save the world, three sages joined forces and sacrificed their lives: Qingxiao Sword Ancestor used sword bones to cast the mausoleum stone, Youye Mingzhu used the soul cloth to seal the array, and Zhishui Buddha used the golden body to build the Xuxu mausoleum. The three worked together to suppress the Netherworld rift forever under the Wangchuan River crossing in southern Xinjiang, in exchange for thousands of years of peace in the world.
But a thousand years later, the descendants of the Qingxiao Sword Ancestor coveted the power of heaven and earth contained in the Zhenling Stone, slandered Lord Youye as an "evil demon", and united with the conservatives of Zhishui Temple to raid Youye's lineage, snatched half of the Zhenling Stone, and drove the remaining Youye into the northern wilderness. Zhishui Zen Temple knew the truth, but was afraid that the announcement would cause chaos in the world and loosen the seal, so they chose silence and allowed the lie of "You Ye is the devil and Qing Xiao to be righteous" to spread for thousands of years.
