Prisoner of the Heart

Su Qingyuan once believed that life was a straight road leading ever forward.

At eighteen, she was admitted early to one of the country's top universities, ranked first on the scholarship list, and promised a place with her future advisor. Her father taught middle school, her mother ran a small flower shop, and her younger brother had just started middle school with excellent grades. They were not rich, but their life was warm and secure.

She had a list written on the first page of her diary:

At twenty-three, graduate with her bachelor's degree and begin a direct PhD program

At twenty-six, earn her doctorate and join a research institute

At twenty-eight, marry the boy she'd been dating for three years

At thirty, have a child of her own and take her parents to see the sea

Each line was neat and carefully written.

She had no idea that one ordinary evening, fate would erase every last stroke.
