Peaceful Splendor

Shen Qingning, the legitimate daughter of the Minister of Rites, entered the palace at sixteen as a Jieyu consort. She thought the inner palace was a place without love, never knowing that years earlier, on a rainy day, the packet of osmanthus cakes she offered had already found its way into the young emperor’s heart.

From Jieyu consort to empress, she weathered schemes, betrayal, and life-and-death trials. She shed her innocence and learned the ways of power, yet never lost sight of who she was. Emperor Xiao Heng went from sharing his favor among all the consorts to loving only her, fulfilling his promise of “one heart, one lifetime” with all his years. With four children at their knees, peace in the inner palace, and tranquility throughout the realm, they had it all.

This is a sweeping palace drama about growth, protection, and staying by one another’s side. The emperor and empress stood together for forty years, then passed the throne to the crown prince and traveled south of the Yangtze. They grew old together, living out the rarest dream in the deep palace: to win one heart and never part, even when their hair turns white.
