The story begins on a rainy night, when Lu Chen enters Shen Tinghe's book studio with a ledger bearing a strange mark. The ledger is connected to the mysterious suicide of Shopkeeper Gu of Moyun Studio in the western part of the city, and it also hints at a secret buried for many years.
