From the Start in the 1970s: I Sold Off My Wretched Sister and Sent Her to the Countryside

After working hard to earn a permanent job at the textile factory, Lin Jingyue thinks she can finally escape her miserable life and settle down. But her biological father and stepmother soon show up, demanding that she give her hard-won job to her stepsister, Lin Wanqing, and take her place in the countryside as a sent-down youth.

Lin Jingyue refuses point-blank. She fought with everything she had to earn this chance at a better life, and she won't give it up.

That night, however, she has an eerily realistic nightmare. In it, her stepmother and Lin Wanqing poison her in an attempt to steal her job. As she lies dying, the two of them tell her with cruel smiles that her biological mother didn't die of illness after all. Her fiancé, Liu Haijun, whom she has always trusted, has also been secretly carrying on with Lin Wanqing.

Lin Jingyue jolts awake from the nightmare, drenched in cold sweat and shaken to the core.

The nightmare has completely opened her eyes.

She secretly resolves that from now on, she will become a new person and never again be the weak, easily bullied Lin Jingyue who lets others push her around.
