As an officially appointed soul-reaper in the Underworld, I’m facing the threat of being taken off the roster after placing last in the KPI rankings for too long.
Desperate to improve my performance, I’m forced to take on a death-defying assignment investigating paranormal instances in the human world.
I enter a C-rank instance known as the “Newbie Graveyard,” facing a global livestream and ridicule from every country.
I pull out my standard mourning staff, flash my Underworld ID badge, and give the trembling instance bosses a shy smile:
“Sorry, the Underworld’s here to make an arrest. Please cooperate. You’re all I need to hit my KPI this month.”
Later, the style of the global paranormal livestream takes a sudden turn.
While the chosen ones from other countries struggle to survive in their instances, I’m haggling with vengeful ghosts over the Underworld’s performance quotas:
“There are sixteen of you. I’ll take the lot for 140. Come along quietly.”
Later still, the vengeful spirits at shrines in Sakura Country all disappear, and the mummies in the pyramids complain that the extradition process is too slow.
The Underworld headquarters sends an urgent notice: “Comrade Ye Fan, please stop this cross-dimensional rat race!”
I look at the million merits that just hit my account and wipe down my soul-catching chain:
“Boss, let me hook the souls of those few Olympian gods first. Then I’ll talk about becoming the annual sales champion!”
